Villain - The Surgeon

The Surgeon was the victim of severe first degree burns due to a chemical fire that engulfed the hospital in which he worked. Vowing and succeeding to kill every person responsible for his disfigurement led to an unsavory lust for killing. Succumbing to insanity  he continued to slaughter many innocent people under the illusion that he was helping them avoid the same fate that he did.

Crazy Male Character

This is the first character I have created using the cel shading technique.

Biography

I'm leaving the character unnamed for the moment until I can think of a suitable name. He is blind, insane and cannibalistic, he communicates only through fast pasted breathing and incoherent mumbling due to the effects of Schizophrenia. He roams the rarely attended parts of the London Underground pacing for food, only venturing into the more populated areas when they are deserted. Once he finds his food he appears docile and approaches steadily and curiously, then without warning releases a sudden rage, bludgeoning and tearing away at whatever creature is unfortunate enough to come into contact. Abandoned as a child, he quickly learnt to live off petty thievery to acquire food and liquids, adopting the London Underground as his home. He descended into complete insanity when he lost his sight due to Cataracts, that accompanied by his already existing Schizophrenia caused him to go crazy and eventually murderous.

Character Design (Greyscale)

To start off creating my character I decided on a stance for my character, the gender and the build. The first design I did was the skeletal design for my character drawn out using a Bamboo Tablet (Top Left).

I drew out the characters features and gave him a basic armour design on a new layer over the top of the skeletal design, I then built up the characters armour, giving him more detailed armour and rounding off scruffy edges.

Once I was happy with my design I coloured the character in a greyscale style, showing the light direction and the shades of colour that would be needed for each individual segment of the armour once I come to colouring him in in colour.
